Apple shifts some iMac assembly to U.S.Apple’s (AAPL) sleek new All-in-One iMac computers began shipping last week and they are expected to be in short supply through at least the end of the year. The shortages were said to be the result of manufacturing difficulties, but another factor may also be at play. As revealed by the labels on a number of new iMacs delivered over the past few days, Apple has at least partially moved the assembly of its All-in-One computers to the United States. Labels on these iMacs clearly read “Computer Assembled In USA,” and the phrase “Assembled in USA” is etched directly onto the iMacs’ aluminum enclosure.
