According to a new survey from EventSpot from Constant Contact (NASDAQ: CTCT), released in celebration of Small Business Saturday, 81 per cent of small businesses and nonprofits planning events expect to increase their use of mobile technology to market their events in the next year. However, there appears to be a considerable gap in interest level versus skill level; an overwhelming 90 per cent of these planners say they would like to learn just how they can leverage mobile technology specifically for their events. Members of Jesus Christ's Church of Latter Day Saints have begun leveraging their evangelizing networks through smartphone apps to help draw support for Mitt Romney's presidential campaign. By employing specialized apps like LDS Tools to gather phone numbers and addresses of Mormon church members, political supporters can cross-check the contact info with voter registration data to contact other Romney backers.
